About the Ng'akarimojong language
Ng’akarimojong, also known as Karamojong, Karimojong, Karimonjong or Ng’akaramojong, is a language of Uganda.
It has over 666,000 users in Moroto, Napak, Kaabong, Amudat, Nakapiripirit, Kotido, Kitgum, Lamwo, Abim, Kapchorwa, Kween, Bulambuli, and Sironko districts.
Dialects of Ng’akarimojong include; Jie (Jiye), Dodoth, Matheniko, Napore, Bokora, Pian. Dialects correspond with sub-tribes of Karimojong and have very high mutual intelligibility. Lexical similarity: 83%–95% between dialects, 85% with Turkana [tuv], 75% with Teso
The people are pastoralist and seminomadic but much less so recently due to disarmament and forced settlement.
