About the Kakwa language

Kakwa, also known as Bari Kakwa, Kakua or Kwakwak, is a language of Uganda. It has over 182,000 users in Koboko and Yumbe districts.

Dialects of Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda differ little (Nida 1972). Very different from other Eastern Nilotic languages of Uganda. Lexical similarity: close with Bari.

Literacy program on-going: taught in primary schools.
